Hi there friends and neighbors in homeschool land.
Life has been really crazy. Excel home educators day on Monday went well and we are up and running like the wind.
It's really amazing to have 2 classes that have to many students and the classes are closed. that has never happened.
Meeting new people and seeing friends is the best part of Excel Home Educators. Sometimes I just can't wait for Monday so that I can see all the amazing teachers and my great friends.
The kids were great and new ones had trouble finding their room. but all in all it was the best and it went so smoothly.
My community choir has started again. I am soo very excited and we are going to sing downtown during Christmas. Sooo very cool.
going back to my doctor to check on my throat again. This is getting on last nerve. Side of throat hurts when swallowing. if they tell me it's all in my head I might just have to run for the hills
Welp that's all I have to report at the Moment
have a good evening and don't forget to smile. People will wonder what you are up too.
over and out

I now have had a Flexible Fliberoptic Laryngoscopy precedure
Hi there my homeschool friends.
I decided to find out the problem with my hoarseness so I decided to take a day off of thinking about our homeschool schedule for August 23rd
I went to a ENT doctor today to check on my throat hoarseness. We talked about all the medication I had been on and how long I have been hoarse. I told him 3 weeks and counting..
Well then he said that we were going to put a tube down my nose and then down your throat. Excuse me??? Repeat to me please. While I sit in the office in this chair???
So he numbed up my nose and when I swallowed the nasty stuff It numbed up my nose and throat.
Now how am I suppose to swallow a tube if I can't swallow.. go figure.....
Then the young doc comes back to start to stick this long tube down my nose. Just relax and just breathe.
How can I breathe with a tube going down my nose? But it worked out just fine and I didn't feel much but my throat is kind sore but I can handle that...
Anyway everything is ok. I might have acid reflux problem and or allergies. We will wait 3 more weeks to see how I do on the acid reflux medication.
Nothing is wrong with my vocal cords but I might have to wait 3 more weeks to sing loudly. I can now sing in my with the Community Choir and with the worship team at church. I'm excited....
Well the fancy term for sticking a tube down your nose and throat is Flexible fiberoptic Laryngoscopy.
I hope in some way I have made you laugh, made you smile and bright some sunshine into your life.

getting ready for 10 grade English
Good morning ya all
I am looking through the teacher key of the ABEKA 10th grade grammar. Unit 1 and 2 look pretty easy to go through with my daughter. Then Unit 3 there is a grammar review.
Unit 4 is about run-on sentences. Welp that's what I do everyday so Unit 4 and I will have to have come to Jesus meeting.
Oh boy here comes some of my favorite parts in unit 5. I had no Idea that verbs had some principal parts. Sounds like I need to refresh my Biology or I thought a verb was a verb was a verb .Okie dokie then. Book says that all verbs may be classified as regular or irregular verbs, depending on the way the past and past participle are formed.
Sounds like personal problem to me.
Next the book talks about what mood a verb is in. My goodness I didn't know that verbs had so much power in my life.
Oh dear I am looking at Unit 7 . Now they talk about Antecedents of masculine gender, feminine gender, neuter gender, and common gender. Boy this sounds more like science than English and all the gender stuff.
Well I just flipped over to Unit 15. This talks about Informal and Formal Engish. I had no idea that I have been talking careless speech all this time. uhmm book says Nonstandard Engish makes an individual appear uneducated. Boy now that should make my student feel good.
Enough about English and you can tell it's not on favorite subject.
until next time my friends. Don't let nonstandard Engish make you feel uneducated

English is not my thing
Good evening Homeschool moms. I've been looking over the English I am going to use this year.
We stated out 4 years ago with ABEKA then changed to Winston Grammar. Winston Grammar didn't take our daughter long to complete. So I ordered the 10th grade ABEKA and felt overwhelmed .
However I ordered the book with lessons plans and now I am back on track
Because without the lesson plans I think I would be as lost as a goose in a snow storm.
So even though I feel somewhat overwhelmed I am going to take each day and if we only get two pages done of the Grammar we are still striving and we are still learning.
So if any of you every get overwhelmed just keep walking and keep your focus on the calling that God has put upon your heart. Step by step with God's help it will get done

4 years and counting
As we begin our 4th year of homeschooling I look back at how far we have come. I had never homeschooled before but had always helped my 2 girls with their homework etc. When my husband and I were talking about homeschooling our youngest (who is 15 now) I thought, "Are you kidding me?" But as the lord begin to talk to me I being to step out in faith and we began the journey.
My first year was overwhelming and I had so many people telling what I needed to do and what books to use.
As we began to look at all the options we decided to put our daughter in a college pre homeschool program called Excel. It was the best thing we ever did. I worked on grammar and history here at home while out daughter took the rest of the classes at Excel.
Our daughter has a passion for music and because we are homeschooling this has allowed her to pursue her piano and clarient. What a talent she has.
I decided to have our daughter tested at the end of the school year and to show you that homeschooling works. Our daughter tested post-high school on every subject and is in the 90 percent of her grade level.
Some of the people we know have often asked us if our daughter just stays in bed all day and what is she learning if I don't have a teaching degree.
Well I have told them our schedule. Monday she is in class all day, Monday she has piano lessons, and then goes to Oklahoma Youth Orchestra practice. Tuesday is band practice, Wed she is another co-op for Spanish, Thursday she works on homework and we have clarinet lessons. Then Friday she goes to Oklahoma City University and takes piano lessons through the Performing Arts Academy.
Now I wouldn't call that just sitting at home and sleeping.
I hope I can be an encouragment to anyone who is homeschooling or wants to homeschool
I appauld you for giving your life to this high calling. What better a calling than to train and educate the next generation Each time you think it's time to give up. DON'T your kids are worth it
